All clips are 640 x 480, but you still have a choice of MPEG or WMV files at this time,
zipped or unzipped. MPEGs are better quality, but WMVs are much smaller files. The
WMVs are inexplicably 2 seconds shorter than the MPEGs, although there's no
difference in content, beginning or end.
You can click on the thumbnails to see a screen capture of what the clip looks like
running in Quicktime.
Oh and please complain somewhere, if you have a problem with any links or clips.

Six ads this time, and this may be it, for a while. I'm always on the lookout for something new and unexpectedly
Duchovny-inclusive, of course. But with Showtime, in particular, going into high gear for the new round of shows
starting up in January, and another in both the Spring and Summer, I'm guessing Cali-related ads will be in short
supply, until mid-to-late next summer. They'll have to film some of it before they'll have clips for new ads, after
all. Perhaps we'll see a few more cool all-series ads here and there, and hopefully a few congratulatory ads when
Cali wins more nominations and/or awards, yippee, but for the most part, I expect this to be it for Duchovideony
2008. But stay tuned for Duchovideony 2009, sure.
All righty then, four of these six are all-series, Cali-inclusive ads, and two are exclusive to Cali. All of them short,
the longest being a minute and fifteen seconds.
1.) This is a nice little compilation ad touting all eight of Showtime's Golden Globe Nominations this year. Go Showtime!
You'll notice that Cali and Weeds are competing in the 'Best Series - Comedy' category, and although I'd like to
see either show take home the prize, my heart belongs to Cali. Sorry Weeds, but GO, CALIFORNICATION!
2.) A little 10-second spot congratulating Cali and David on their TWO Golden Globe Nominations! Boo-yah!
3.) This is kinda cool. Showtime is filling its last two Sunday nights in December with marathons of the finales for all their
original series this year. Cali is the last finale they run on December 28th, and you can bet I'll be missing the show
and weekly reruns enough by then that I'll be tuning in. Anyways, this is an ad for their two-week Finales Marathon.
4.) Showtime's run three Cali marathons on Showtime 2 as the season progressed, and this is the ad for the episodes 208
through 210 marathon they ran the Saturday before episode 211 aired. I missed clipping the ad for the first Cali
marathon, but got the second one (see Nov.16), and since this one's kinda cute, too, I just thought I'd toss it in.
5.) This is a really bizarre ad for the sadists in us all, and not much Cali content. But its theme is the idea that, in the right
hands, pain is pleasure, and they proceed to show people getting hurt seeking pleasure in all kinds of ways, while they
advertize all their original series and a few movies they have coming up in rotation soon. I'm not familiar with the song
or who does it, but it's got wicked lyrics ("I hit you once, you hit me back, I get a kick, you get a slap, you smash a
plate over my head, and I set fire to our bed..." I think is how it starts out), and is perfect for what's going on. But
hey, you get to see Hank falling over Janie's flower pot again, and other painfully funny moments from the season, so...
6.) I love this ad, because I've always loved the song they use for it. It's an all-series ad to a cover of "You Really Got a Hold
on Me," the one that says, "I don't like you, but I love you," and "I don't want you, but I need you," perfect for just about
every character on a Showtime series. I realized that besides Hank, there are not many of these characters I can truly
say I like as people, but yet, I love them all and the shows they entertain me with. Thus the "So Much to Love" conclusion.
Sweet ad, and I lurv the tune. Oh, and I agree that there's SO much to love about Showtime. Everyone should have
Two clips this week. The first is an On Demand recent addition, and the second is an ad for a Cali Marathon on Sho2.
1.) A nice, 4-minute look into the Cali Room at the Showtime House in NY. Jamie Drake, the designer takes us on a tour and
talks about the room, his inspiration and the furnishings.
2.) An ad for the 3-ep Cali Marathon on Sho2 (Nov.15th), including eps 5, 6 and 7 (or 17, 18 & 19). All clips used are from
those episodes, but put together nicely for this ad, at least.
Only one short ad this time. Aside from weekly episode teasers, new ads have practically dried up, for the record. :sniff:
1.) This is an ad touting the addition of "Brotherhood" to Showtime's already killer Sunday night lineup. All Cali content is from eps
we've already seen, but a funny, in your face kind of ad, anyway.
Just a couple of quickies this time. One Cali ad and one all-series ad. And both run less than a minute.
1.) "The Critics are Seriously Diggin' It!" ad. They quote newspaper/magazine critics who love the show! Maybe a glimpse or two of
New!Hank, if I'm remembering correctly. Nice ad.
2.) "Meet the Men of Showtime" ad, where they ponder 'what makes a man a Showtime Man. It's an all-series ad, with a bit of New!Hank
in this one, too. Plus, Hank gets in the final word. Oh, and I've seen it numerous times, and it was apparently made to end kind
of abruptly like it does, I believe. Hee.
Hanker's Dozen clips this time, all Cali-related or inclusive. Most of them are short ads, and several are 'variable' ads.
As with the countdown ad they did before the premiere, they have several ads that are basically the same visual,
with changing text, embedded images and/or narration, which I've branded 'variable ads'. I clipped a few of the same
ads to show you how they vary the ads to suit the changing circumstances of the progressing season. I think. I'm not
sure I said that right. I'll try to explain better later or something. ;-P I just wanted to clarify what could be perceived
as redundancy in clippage later.
1.) "On the next all new..." Californication trailer for ep 15, "No Way to Treat A Lady" I won't be clipping all of these, mostly because
everyone's seen the eps before I get them uploaded and added to the page, but I thought I'd do the first few, at least, to give you
an idea of how it's advertised on Showtime.
*Check out Showtime's video page for Cali to see a couple of clips from the upcoming episode each week, in case you aren't
doing that already. Use the links on the left to zero in on your ep of choice.
2.) Here's one of those variable ads I was blabbing about before; it's an ad for Sho.com where they change the narration and embedded
video shown onscreen at the site. In other words, they're giving you a new bevy of reasons to check out their site every week
for updates. They have ads for the Hanker game, for 'Mia Cross' on Twitter, the Cali MB, and a new one each week for the next
episode's video clips posted at the site (see link above). These are usually shown immediately following the episode. It's the same
basic visual ...with differences. This one is for episode 15, and was shown right after the Episode 14 credits.
3.) This is a way cool, "Are you ready...?" all-series ad. There are a few scenes from upcoming eps I don't believe we've seen before
(mixed in with stuff we've seen), but as usual, they're very brief glimpses. Still a cool ad, though.
4.) Fashioned along the lines of Hank's 'He's in way too deep' ad below, this one's Karen's, and it says 'she fell for Hank, but she's not
falling for it anymore.'
5.) This is one of those 10-second spots they use as a variable. Both the ones I've clipped here are "Now" ads, shown as a lead-in to an
episode, but they're both also used to indicate 'Coming Up' or 'Stay tuned', being sandwiched here and there in between other ads
in the bank of them before any upcoming ep or rerun. They have two different spots and this was the second one.
6.) The first "Now" spot I caught. It's kinda the same as #5, but kinda different.
7.) Second version of the website ad I caught that piques your curiosity for episode 14 sneak-peek clips.
8.) "On the next all new..." Californication trailer for ep 14, "The Great Ashby"
9.) Another version of the variable website ad. This one aired right after the premiere, and invites us all to play Hanker.
10.) Michael C. Hall, my dude, Dexter, introduces the season premiere of Cali, since David wasn't available to do it himself this year,
like last year, sniff. Three cheers for Michael C. though. I wuv him a wot.
11.) This is a partial recording of Showtime's Cali/Dexter Premiere Party clip. My stupid DVR stopped recording maybe 3 to 5 seconds before the
clip ended, and I've yet to see it shown again on Showtime. This ran right before Dexter premiered on September 28th, so I guess it was
a one-time thing. You can, however, see the clip in its entirety, and perhaps even extended, under 'Season Promos' at Sho.com's video
page. No, David's not there, but Evan and Madeleine are, and again, Michael C. puts in a good word for Cali, the highlight of the clip, for
me. I mentioned I wuv him a wot? There's also some really nice shots (like this) of the Cali room of the Showtime House.
12.) This was added to On Demand a long time ago, but I thought it was something I'd already seen on Showtime, duh. And in a roundabout
way, I *have* seen all the clips used in this "About Californication" piece. But it's nothing that's ever run on Showtime quite this way
before, with the stuff in this order, and the nice transitional images of the characters added in. It's pretty sweet, for a completist,
like me. This is also available for viewing on the 'Season Promos' page at Sho.com
I have 1 new Cali-inclusive ad, and 2 variations of 1 new Cali ad. Three Cali clips, in other words.
Then, I remembered I'd clipped all the extras from the Korean version of "The Secret", before it was
Released in the US. I had them linked at the old site for a while, on a page I made with all my The
Secret-related stuff, so I'm not certain anyone ever saw those. Thought I'd relist them here, if you'd
like clips of the extras.
1.) Longer of two versions (45 seconds) of the "On the season premiere of Californication..." ad
2.) Shorter version (25 seconds or less?) of the above 'On the season premiere of Californication...' ad.
3.) 10-second Cali/Dex premiere countdown ad. They started at 10 days 'til premiere, and every day, it changes. We're at 2 now,
woo-HOO! I only clipped the first one, because they're all alike, except the number of days.
4.) David's 'The Secret' interview. He says nice things about everybody, as is his habit, and he looks fabulous, so this one's definitely
worth a look-see.
5.) Lili Taylor's 'The Secret' interview. No mention of David, but she explains a lot of things about the movie's relationships and
characters, what it all means, the way it comes down.
6.) Olivia Thirlby's 'The Secret' interview. From what I remember, she doesn't mention David or working with him at all, either. But a
good 'get to know your actress' kind of clip.
7.) Behind-the-scenes video. Mostly someone following Vincent Perez around while he directs, but there's a look at an intense,
post-scene-gripped David. I found it fascinating to watch.
8.) A Korean version of The Secret's theatrical trailer.
8a.) Bonus! Not a video, but a zip file of the soundtrack mp3's from the CD import "Si É'tais Toi" (Nathaniel Méchaly's beautiful
"The Secret" score and Craig Walker's tunes), plus the Al Green tune "Simply Beautiful", that plays a couple of times in the movie,
but wasn't included in the official soundtrack.

***I want to warn the Havenites that because so many of these are a month or more old,
a lot of these clips have already been posted at Haven and YouTube and those places already.
There may be a few here and there that haven't been posted anywhere yet, however. I've
kinda lost track. I just figured I'd upload my .WMV and .MPEG versions, for whomever might
need those, you know, my contribution to a very worthy cause. :-) I felt that overpowering

1.) Kind of a mix of all the previous ads we've seen up to now, with a few glimpses not shown in previous ads. Same
'Hank Moody's trying to be a one-woman man' theme from previous ads. I'm happily confused about what's new and what isn't,
But I'm pretty sure this is a new ad, slightly different from the rest.
2.) "Two Killer Premieres, One Wickedly Good Night", 'Saint/Sinner (Dex) - Angel/Devil (Hank)', ad for Dexter-Californication Night, coming
September 28th!!!
3.) 15-second "He's in way too deep" Californication premiere date reminder ad. *Edited to add: They use this ad for other reminders, like
watch the eps on On Demand, just a general reminder that a new season has begun and to catch the eps on Sunday, etc.
4.) Metropolitan Home's 'Showtime House' video, recorded off Showtime cable. All the designers talk about all the different
rooms they created for all Showtime's hit series, including Cali. Find out more about the house and see pics HERE.
Per the video, all tour and sale proceeds go to the Happy Hearts Fund.
5.) David's Q & A for Showtime's 'Sho Me: Shorts'. I will BEG you not to project your thoughts of recent events onto this meant-to-be-silly-fun
Q & A. Yes, some of his answers will perhaps disappoint you or make you all reflective and sad, but try to take it in the spirit
it was intended when it was filmed, please. We all know how David likes to joke around and mess with your head, so...
6.) Little snippet of David as #22 on TV Guide's 'TV's 25 Sexiest Men of All-Time' ...or something like that. He beat Josh Holloway (25),
David Hasselhoff (24) and Desi Arnaz (23), and they pretty much concentrate on his 90's Mulder era, for the record.

1.) The first one has the NEW HANK (woo-HOO!), and although it's not nearly enough, it's delightful,
at the very least. Laughed every time I saw new Hank, but it goes by fast. Slo-mo is good.
2.) Then you have an ad for Cali Season 2 depicting Hank's answering machine messages.
All women, sure. No new Hank, mostly snippets from the finale, I believe, but it's cute.
3.) Then I caught those first two one after the other, so I recorded that 2:10 of goodness
and made a clip of the two together, in case you'd like it that way.
4.) I threw in another Showtime all-series ad I caught a while back. Takes forever to get to Cali,
and there's not much to see when you get there, except some nice stills of Hank we've seen here or there,
and Karen and Charlie quickie live shots. But I still like the way the ad is done, and the stubble is absolutely
breathtaking, so if you're interested...
5.) Last, I caught 2 new-to-me Pedigree ads that also ran back-to-back, for a total of 30 seconds, so I made a
clip of it. The jumping dog in the second part looks like Yusuf (Bodie) from Californication, sorta. He's really
smiling big and he's adorable, whether it's him or related to him or not. What a yumper!
